WHY WE NEED TO BE RESPONSIBLE IN CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION?

Image
This video explained to us why we need to be responsible in consumption and production.     By being responsible in consumption and production, we  can have adverse effects on human health. Responsible practices aim to reduce exposure to harmful substances, improve product safety, and promote healthier lifestyles. Not just that, sustainable consumption and production also consider the social dimensions of economic activities. This involves ensuring fair labor practices, promoting safe working conditions, and respecting the rights of workers, thereby contributing to social equity and justice. Not just that, this can also  promote the efficient use of resources, minimizing waste and optimizing the life cycle of products. This is essential for long-term resource availability and reducing the environmental footprint of human activities.

OUR ECOGROW BOTTLE PROGRESSION

This shows our progress after 2 weeks of planting. This shows the whole class's progression of their own Eco Grow bottle.     As a conclusion, E co Grow bottle planting offers a simple yet innovative approach to sustainable gardening. With just a bottle and a seed, this method provides an accessible way for individuals to engage in eco-friendly practices. The reuse of bottles not only minimizes waste but also transforms everyday items into vessels for nurturing plant life. This cost-effective and resource-efficient technique highlights the beauty of repurposing and encourages a connection with nature on a small scale. As we witness the growth of seeds within these humble containers, Eco Grow bottle planting becomes a symbol of the potential for environmental stewardship within our reach. It serves as a reminder that, with minimal resources, anyone can contribute to the green movement and cultivate a sense of responsibility towards our planet.  ...

THE DAY OF OUR ECOGROW BOTTLE PLANTING

Image
On 26th December 2023, we started our program that involves all of our classmates which is section 811 for SCSH 1201. We prepared all of the tools and materials that we need as example plant seeds (chili and okra), 1.5ml plastic bottles and two units of soils. However, a week before we already germinated our seeds so that it is easier for them to see the results. We started our project by explaining to them first what we need to do. After that, they eagerly started to make their own Eco Grow Bottle Planting. Here are the pictures throughout the whole project. This is the part of the process in the project. This is part of the process in the project. This is our classmates with their own eco grow bottles. In this program, we can create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. By implementing a recycling program within the university, the institution plays a significant role by spreading awareness within the community to apply the three R’s initiative in the...

The "EcoGrow Bottle Planting" project is an initiative to embark on a journey towards building a better world, right here in our university. This project aims to inspire and empower students to actively contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals. This program in a university setting aims to address irresponsible waste management among students, faculty, and staff in order to ensure they organize the waste in proper way such as recycling. This program acknowledge that irresponsible waste disposal can cause negative impact to the environment. This is the example how bottle planting looks like. In our rapidly changing world, it has become increasingly important to address crucial global challenges such as responsible consumption and production, and climate action. By focusing on these SDG's, we have the opportunity to make a tangible difference in our own lives and the lives of others, both locally and globally. Through this project, we will not only learn about ...

WHAT IS EXACTLY SDG 12?

Image
SDG 12, Responsible Consumption and Production is about ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns which is the key to sustain the livelihoods of current and future generations. Humanity tends to consume things without regard for consequences or global fairness. And this, in turn, puts a massive set of blinkers over countries and creates some jarring contrasts. With the establishment of SDG 12, the goal aims to encourage nations and individuals to do more with less and minimize waste as well as focusing on the areas where action is needed to promote sustainable practices. This is the logo of the SDG 12. Within SDG 12, recycling plays a crucial role as the specific target related to recycling is outlined in Target 12.5, which states "By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse." Thus, the selection of this SDG indeed needs to be highlighted in our program stems from the fact that it emphasizes the importa...
